Why are pregnancy tests so accurate?

Pregnancy tests are extremely reliable if you are using them correctly. The pregnancy tests you get 99 out of 100 times at the drugstore function. They are just as safe as a urine pregnancy test that a doctor’s office will let you receive.

Pregnancy tests operate by testing for a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in your urine. Your body makes that hormone only when you are pregnant. When HCG is released, a fertilized egg attaches to the lining of your uterus. If you get a positive pregnancy test, it indicates that you are pregnant. If they are negative, then it means that you are not pregnant.

Pregnancy tests are most accurate if you are taking them after you have missed your period.

If it is expired or you don’t use it the right way, a pregnancy test will be less accurate. So always check the expiry date on the package, and read carefully the directions that come with your pregnancy test.
